Lava Lamps

A fun classic that adds warmth and style to your decor.

Lava lamps are an iconic yet fun statement piece that brings personality and style into any living space. Originally created in the 1960s, the lava lamp is a decor item that has remained timeless and popular due to it's memorising liquid motion and vibrant colours.

Are Lava Lamps safe?

Lava lamps during operation can get quite hot. Like most lamps, it's important that your lava lamp during operation is not near hazards such as curtains, carpets or blankets. Most lava lamps contain non-toxic chemicals such as antifungals, water, and colouring. Running them non-stop increases the risk of overheating, which can turn your mesmerising lava flow into a safety hazard. Manufacturer's Advice: Most manufacturers suggest giving your lava lamp a rest after about 8-10 hours of use.

Are Lava Lamps expensive to run?

Lighting accounts for about 9 percent of a typical home's energy use. Light bulbs' energy use can vary widely based on bulb type and usage. A 30-watt lava lamp left on for six hours a day uses about 0.2 kWh a day, or 6 kWh per month. Based on this assumption it costs about ten dollars per year to run a lava lamp daily.
